Collages

A passion project of mine is creating collages out of thrifted and found materials like magazines, mailers, chocolate bar wrappers, canvases, frames, and much more. As someone who has always been been passionate about the environment I love being able to use my artistic skills to turn what some see as trash into treasure, saving it from ending up as just one more thing piled up in a landfill somewhere.

God is a Woman

Notorious RBG

Art is a healing process for me, and after the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg I needed every tool in my arsenal to cope. I channeled my feelings into the creation of this collage, filling it with messages that center around being a woman in America, such as “Behold as I transform this normal woman into a sexualized prop”. Or on the more optimistic side, "We believe in a love that can change the way things are."

The Rainbow Series

The Swimmer

Something I like to do as an artist is challenge myself to try new things and since I usually use bright colors I decided to challenge myself to create a collage that only uses black and white imagery. Removing color from the equation allowed me to focus on other elements such as playing with the orientation of the imagery and really telling a story with the layout and focus imagery.

Feminity

This collage contrasts the fun and girly side of feminity with the weight and angst that I and so many others often feel exisiting as a woman in this world of impossible to meet beauty standards.

Earthly Delights

I found this empty green frame at Goodwill and immediately knew it was destined to come home with me for an art project. I used cardboard from an old box as a collage surface and the green of the frame as inspiration. This resulted in lots of imagery of the outdoors, along with earlthy delights such as fruit and laying in fields of flowers.
